The park’s main attraction is the gorgeous, green crater. There have been 23 recorded eruptions since this date, the last one being in 1994. Its maximum elevation is 11,260 feet (3,432 m) above sea level, being the highest volcano in Costa Rica, it has an average annual temperature of 41 degrees Fahrenheit, 5 degrees Celsius to 48.2 degrees Fahrenheit (9 degrees Celsius) and a rainfall of 9.3 feet (2,387 mm) in the Craters sector and 5.0 feet (1,527 mm) annually in Prusian sector. The drive to Irazu Volcano from San Jose is approximately 2 hours.
